Dan joined IPS Search, the US based retained search practice subsidiary of IPS Group in 2011 as a Senior Vice President of their US search division, IPS Search. Based in Chicago and with more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, Dan is responsible for developing and managing senior-level search assignments in insurance and reinsurance companies, state insurance departments, and consulting firms.
Prior to joining IPS Search, he was Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Jacobson Executive Search. Previously, Dan was Founder and CEO of The Richard Harrington Company, a boutique consultancy engaged in insurance and financial services concentrating on business planning, product innovation, capital development, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to the Richard Harrington Company, Dan headed the Institutional Financial Products Division at ARM Financial Group and helped take the company public in the late 90s. Before ARM, he was President of CHALKE Consulting, an actuarial consultancy that developed the first ALM modeling software for the industry. In the early 90s, Dan was a co-founder of SEI Investment’s Insurance Asset Group, advising insurers on portfolio structuring, ALM, and investment manager selection. From 1983 to 1988, he was a Principal at KPMG where he led the firm’s NYC Insurance Consulting Practice. Earlier in his career, Dan was a senior executive at LOMA, a life insurance industry trade association.
Dan is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a B.A and M.P.A. He remains actively involved in the insurance industry through his participation in several associations at the local, national and international levels. He has been a speaker before numerous organizations including The Society of Actuaries, the Casualty Actuarial Society, LOMA, and the International Insurance Society. “
