James W. Evan-Cook - President

James W. Evan-Cooky

James joined IPS Group in 1985 and became President of their US division, IPS Search, Inc. in 1999. James is responsible for developing and managing senior, executive and C-level retained search engagements for domestic and international insurance and reinsurance clients in the US insurance market.

James started with IPS in their London office in 1985 as an executive recruiter working with London and Bermuda insurance / reinsurance clients on UK, European and International search recruitment. He relocated to the United States in 1992 joining Jacobson Associates focusing on Actuarial, Reinsurance and Brokerage searches in the US insurance market. In 1995 James was tapped by Cook Associates where he successfully developed a retained search insurance practice. He then rejoined IPS in 1999 as President of newly created retained search practice, IPS Search, Inc.

James has been engaged in executive search specifically within the insurance and reinsurance community for more than 20 years. During this time he has successfully partnered with insurers, corporations, brokers, State Departments of Insurance and State Insurance Funds and their search committees to advise and fulfill their critical search needs at the highest levels in a variety of insurance industry specific C-Level operational and strategic leadership including Board Director searches.

Douglas E. Terry – Senior Vice President

Douglas E. Terry

Doug joined IPS Group in December 2008 as a Senior Vice President of their US search division, IPS Search. Based in Chicago, Doug is responsible for developing and managing senior-level engagements for domestic and international clients across the spectrum of the insurance industry.

Previously, Doug was a Managing Director of Jacobson Executive Search and lead senior-level client searches on a national basis in the property & casualty and life & health arenas. He joined the organization in June 1992, subsequent to the acquisition of a boutique insurance search and staffing firm of which he served as Managing Partner.

Doug has been engaged in executive search specifically within the insurance community for more than 30 years. During this time, he has successfully partnered with insurers, F-1000 corporations, agents/brokers and consulting firms to address and successfully fulfill their critical needs at the highest levels in a plethora of industry-specific disciplines, including claims, underwriting, finance, operations, risk management, information systems, safety, and sales.

A second-generation insurance professional and initially trained as an Adjuster, Doug has maintained an active role in various industry associations at the local, regional and national levels. His involvement includes participation in organizations such as CPCU, PCI, PIAA and RIMS. Doug is widely recognized as an authority on staffing, recruiting and employee retention topics and, as such, is often invited to speak to associations on these issues. Additionally, he was a Charter Member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and served as its recruiting liaison for several years.

Daniel R. Gattis – Senior Vice President

Daniel R. Gattis

Dan joined IPS Search, the US based retained search practice subsidiary of IPS Group in 2011 as a Senior Vice President of their US search division, IPS Search. Based in Chicago and with more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, Dan is responsible for developing and managing senior-level executive search assignments with a concentration on life and health insurers and investment managers.

Prior to joining IPS Search, he was Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Jacobson Executive Search. Previously, Dan was Founder and CEO of The Richard Harrington Company, a boutique consultancy engaged in insurance and financial services concentrating on business planning, product innovation, capital development, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to the Richard Harrington Company, Dan headed the Institutional Financial Products Division at ARM Financial Group and helped take the company public in the late 90s. Before ARM, he was President of CHALKE Consulting, an actuarial consultancy that developed the first ALM modeling software for the industry. In the early 90s, Dan was a co-founder of SEI Investment’s Insurance Asset Group, advising insurers on portfolio structuring, ALM, and investment manager selection. From 1983 to 1988, he was a Principal at KPMG where he led the firm’s NYC Insurance Consulting Practice. Earlier in his career, Dan was a senior executive at LOMA, a life insurance industry trade association.

Dan is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a B.A and M.P.A. He remains actively involved in the insurance industry through his participation in several associations at the local, national and international levels. He has been a speaker before numerous organizations including The Society of Actuaries, the Casualty Actuarial Society, LOMA, and the International Insurance Society. Dan has been profiled in Pensions and Investments and is author of several industry-related articles. He also helped to found a not-for-profit company focused on combating childhood obesity and he is an instrument-rated private pilot and avid cyclist.

Betty Moy – Vice President

Betty joined IPS Group in January 2000 as a Vice President of their US search division, IPS Search. Based in Chicago Ms. Moy is responsible for day to day client engagement management, co-coordinating research resources and fulfillment on existing client engagements not requiring a fully retained search solution.

Previously Betty worked for Johnson & Johnson, a Fortune 500 company in marketing before joining executive search firm, Cook Associates in Chicago to build their specialty retail and consumer services practice. There she spent more than ten years actively involved in client engagements and relationship development with nationally recognized clients in the specialty retail and consumer services sector. She joined IPS Search to focus on search and recruitment in insurance and reinsurance segment in 2000.

Betty has been engaged in executive search and recruitment for 20 years, the past nine years specifically focused on the insurance and reinsurance community. During this time she has successfully managed and executed critical searches at all levels in the insurance segment with insurers, reinsurers, brokers, state departments of insurance and quasi-state insurance funds.
